With January nearly over, the New Year is well and truly under way. As the dust of 2018 starts to settle and that holiday gluttony we all love/hate begins to feel like a distant memory, it’s time to ask, “What does 2019 mean to me?” The whole “new year, new you” thing may be one of the most overused tropes when the earth is about to take another spin around the sun, but it surely rings true for a reason. Whether you stick to your resolutions or not, asking yourself what to focus on throughout the year can be a great way to kick it off with a bang. Feeling overwhelmed with limitless possibilities? Recharge Your Motivation

This is the year I get healthy (and CK abs)! This is the year I learn a new language or dust the cobwebs off the guitar uncle Frank gave me for Christmas (circa 2010)! Motivation can sometimes start strong and quickly slip away…a bit like a barfly with a bad pick up line. But hey…that’s ok, we’re only human. What’s important is that initial thirst for self-improvement. You never know…if you stick with it, you might become the next sports star with your glossy face on a thousand magazine covers, or the next hot dog eating champion. Business never sleeps and nor do I! They say a healthy work/life balance is key to happiness, but sometimes you just want to focus on your business side and save the relaxation for later. Whether your eyes are set on global monopoly, opening that new hole-in-the-wall cafe or mowing lawns for some extra beer money, 2019 could be the year your business shines.

Share Your Creativity

There’s a creative thread in everyone. Art, music, film, fashion, food, the perfect text message…creativity can mean different things to different people. Creativity doesn’t only flow through the veins of Beyonce and Beethoven. Us mere mortals can arm ourselves with an idea and create with the best of them. 2019 might be the year you start a fashion label, display your brilliant artworks or release that sophomore album. If you have a great idea you’re dying to share with the world, then go for it!

Whether we like it or not, we are social creatures. Apart from those rare lone wolves and private island millionaires, we can’t really go without human interaction on a (mostly) daily basis. So…it’s safe to say, most of us will be in some form of team during 2019. Sports teams, work teams, friendship and family teams, fight clubs…the list goes on. If you want this year to be about your comrades (how lovely of you), then make it happen!

To paraphrase those genius marketers at MasterCard, memories are the real currency in life. I’m sure 2019 will be full of them regardless, but maybe you want some special ones to hold on to. A bit of nostalgia to bottle and drink when you’re older. It could be memories of time with loved ones, travelling around the globe or a great restaurant you visited for the first time. 2019 might simply mean, living a full life and making a mark on another great year.
